Hello Midvale Mustang families!

Happy fall to you all, and happy mes de la herencia hispana (Hispanic Heritage Month)! We have been having lots of fun getting to know each other this month, building routines and rituals, and enjoying the company of our peers. We hope everyone has a lovely mid-fall break this Thursday and Friday. Teachers will be working hard on planning for our students’ success.

Fun Run: Tuesday, Oct. 1!

The details here are from the calendar invite, which were previously sent home in backpacks.

Hello Midvale Families,

We are gearing up for Midvale’s 25th annual Fun Run. On Tuesday, October 1st, all students and staff will gather outside on the lower soccer field to celebrate fitness and community. Show up no earlier than 1:00pm to do the Muscle Hustle with us & cheer on your Mustang! If it’s raining, we’ll be inside the Gymnasium, and still run. Inclement weather would cancel the event.

The students practice their fast walking and jogging 1x per week during their Wellness classes for three weeks prior to the event. The course is approximately one mile in length, starting at school, going through the Midvale neighborhood and ending back at Midvale. After the race, students are proud, thirsty and in need of some fuel! We need 15 volunteers. If you’d like to offer your help, please email Ms. Mo at mcfarrell@madison.k12.wi.us.

We also need donations of cuties/clementines (not oranges) and hand wipes. Donated items can be sent with your student to school on Monday, Sept 30 or Tuesday, Oct 1.

You may take your student(s) home after the event. There will be clipboards with sign up sheets on them. Please do not re-enter the building after the Fun Run to ensure school safety.

We can’t wait to celebrate the well-being of our students!

SCO Meeting Oct. 1

Our School Community Organization (SCO) is holding the monthly meeting tomorrow night, Oct. 1, at 6:30 pm. It will be in the LMC at Lincoln. You can park in the staff parking lot and enter through the parking lot doors. School board member Nicki Vander Meulen will be joining us.

We look forward to family involvement at this meeting.

We Belong; Building a Proud Midvale-Lincoln Community Conversation Series

Join us for coffee and conversation Monday, 10/7, right after drop off at 7:30 AM. Our guest speaker this month is Psychologist Olivia LeBlanc. She will be prepared to share and answer questions about strategies for self-regulation we teach at Midvale-Lincoln, to help build a common language at home and school.
