Family Bulletin: November 18, 2024

Note From Principal Frank

Dear Midvale Mustangs-

The year is flying by! We are having so much fun learning and making friends at school. This coming week classrooms will celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a set of learning activities and experiences designed by our staff Native American Heritage Committee. Have you read our land acknowledgment?  You can see our plaque and land acknowledgment on the outside of our building by the front door. Make sure to check it out!

The plaque for the school district's land acknowledgements

It is with great respect that our school acknowledges and celebrates the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk Nation and the 11 Indigenous First Nations within what is now referred to as the State of Wisconsin. The land you are standing on is the sacred ancestral land of the Ho-Chunk People. Our school will continue to grow and build upon our partnerships with the Ho-Chunk Nation and all First Nations.

Wellness Updates

Pair of glasses help individual read vision sign.

As we work towards a healthier school community, we want to remind you of our board policy regarding snacks: 0 grams of added sugar in any community snacks provided during the school day. We know this might be a challenge, but every small step counts. By reducing sugar intake, we can help improve children's focus, behavior, and overall health. We truly appreciate all snack donations and your efforts to support our students' well-being. Let's work together to create a healthier environment for everyone!

  • Low- or no-sugar snack ideas: Pirate’s Booty, Popcorn, Veggie straws or veggie chips, meat sticks, dried fruit, Goldfish crackers, applesauce, and pretzels.

Vision screenings took place this past week for 4K and Kindergarteners. If you receive a referral, the health office will contact you individually as well. Thank you, teachers and students, for making the screenings go so smoothly!
