You’re Invited: Lori Mann Carey Elementary Renaming & Ribbon Cutting

Please join us for a Renaming and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Celebration honoring the new Lori Mann Carey Elementary School.

On Feb. 24, 2025, the Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education approved the renaming of Southside Elementary to Lori Mann Carey Elementary School, recognizing a dedicated education advocate who grew up on Madison’s south side and devoted her life to supporting students and families.

Lori attended our schools, graduated from Memorial, put her own children through this district and then advocated for everybody else’s children — there’s something really profound about that. I also love the idea of the school having a strong South Side name.

This remarkable building and celebration of community was made possible through the generous support and commitment of Madison taxpayers as part of the 2020 referendum. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this transformative project possible.
