Alumni Shoutout: UWGB Student-Athlete Visits MMSD Elementary Schools
While many college students might spend their spring break catching up on sleep or connecting with friends, MMSD alum Ezra Wallace had another idea. Within days of being back in Madison, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay freshman was back in MMSD elementary schools to connect with students over one of his favorite passions: soccer.
Now a goalkeeper for UWGB, Wallace brought his talent to school playgrounds across the district to play and bond with students during recess.
"It reminds me of the good times when I was younger. When I was a kid during recess at Orchard Ridge, I played soccer every single time,” Wallace said. “I was just like these kids, and it's refreshing to see everyone still comes together to play the game."
Following a match at Muir Elementary, a fourth grader asked Wallace all about his experience: who his favorite professional player was, what playing in college is like and how he practices.
“It’s fun to come back to the basics this week, no lifting, no practice, just having fun, literal child’s play,” Wallace said.
Wallace spent two years on the boys soccer team at Vel Phillips Memorial High School and attended the Early College STEM Academy at Madison College before graduating in 2024.
